windows 98se CD PROBLEMS…

Posted by lahar9jhadav on November 7, 2006

‘CD WRITER suddenly not being recognized by software applications; not recognized by Windows system,’

‘CD writer doesn’t work anymore…’

If your CD writer suddenly becomes un-usable; becomes invisible to your writing programmes and to the windows system you probably have a a problem with the set of *.dll files windows uses to communicate and manage your CD player/writer.

“I was using my cd writer- it developed some sort of glitch and was not responding and then crashed my pc. Upon re-booting i found that I could no longer write cd’s- the software I use to burn CD’s suddenly could not find my cd writer. The cd player was working however, and it was visible in the system devices list and according to that it was also working ok, but I couldn’t write with it”

The above is a typical occurrence with this particular problem.

FIX IT.
You will need to replace the corrupted winaspi.dll and wnaspi32.dll files in the Windows System folder.

HOW– once you have downloaded these files from the net place them in a new folder- then using your ‘system file checker’ program (windows-start/programs/accessories/system tools/ system information/tools/file checker) replace the files in your windows system folder.

download a zip file of the two dll’s here
