Posted by lahar9jhadav on December 26, 2012

oldest shoe in the world; Armenia

Areni-1 Cave Complex, Trench 3

Copper Age, 3600-3500 BC

The leather shoe was discovered in 2008. As evidenced by the excavating archeologists, the shoe was dated from 3500 BC by the radio-carbon analysis in spectrometry laboratories at the Universities of California and Oxford.

This permits considering the unique find, that came down to us in a state of stunning preservation,  as  “the world’s oldest shoe”.

Archeological excavations have been carried out in the cave called Areni-1 in Vayots Dzor region since 2007.
